Summer is coming, and it’s hard not to feel immense pressure of not being prepared with a  “summer bod” or feeling like we’re nowhere close to our “skincare being on fleek”. 

I recently came across a post that said, “Happiness is an inside job. Don’t assign anyone else that much power over your life”. - And that’s just it.

Once we remove those ridiculous societal standards and start living up to our own standards, we begin to achieve our best and happiest self.

1. Create a positive environment

It is okay to break patterns that are no longer serving you, or take space from others who may have a negative impact on you.


 Although negativity may not be directly targeted towards you, it can impact your mind’s thoughts and behaviours just by hearing or seeing it. 


Surround yourself with people who are uplifting, kind, and positive. Having a support system that wants nothing but the best for you is the key to finding happiness. Not only do they support you, but they understand and respect your goals and values. 


There is no pressure to change who you are or who you want to be. You’re doing amazing, sweetie! 

 

2. Find New Hobbies

Try new activities to stimulate your mind and creativity. The world is in your hands, so use it to your advantage! 


Do not limit yourself, you are capable of doing so many great things. When you find new hobbies, you learn more about yourself and what you enjoy doing. 


Try painting, cooking, running, or reading! You might find something you’re passionate about. How will you know if you don’t try? Bet on yourself.

 

3. Practice Self-talk

So, what is self-talk? Self-talk is speaking to yourself in a positive manner. 


I know it can be so strange! Saying positive things to yourself, we don’t do it enough. Repeat after this, ‘I am beautiful, I am strong, I am smart’, because you are beautiful, strong, and smart! 


This can be super uncomfortable at first, but that’s okay. Make it a habit in your daily routine, and you can thank yourself later. Eventually, you’ll see changes in how you think and speak about yourself. Achieve the confidence you deserve! 

 

4. Be Kind to your Body

Remember your value is not measured by how your body looks - But, how it feels. 


Listen to your body and give it the rest that it needs, or take a walk to get those joints going. When our bodies feel tense or stressed, it affects us mentally. 


Being kind to your body is not only what you feed it, but how you rest it, how you stretch it, and think or speak about it. Accept the beauty of your body, and the great things that it is capable of. 


Think of your body and mind as besties; when one isn’t feeling so great the other isn’t either! 

 

5. Take Time for Yourself

Balance! Balance! Balance! When you’re hard-working and selfless, it’s hard to find time for yourself. 


It is important to take a mental break from all of your responsibilities. Take some time to journal, take a hot bath, or do a workout. 


Designate a time everyday, or a day or two of the week for self-care time! Stay aligned with your feelings, goals, and intentions. Put yourself first, and do what makes you happy! 

 

6. Enjoy the Weather 

Being outside and in the sunshine has so many great benefits to our mental and physical well-being!


 If you usually spend the days inside, make sure to find some time to soak up some Vitamin D, some fresh air, and take a quick walk around the neighbourhood! 


It’s amazing how your energy can shift and how fast your mood can be lifted when you’re outside. Mother nature knows what’s best for us, trust her honey! 

 

7. Write affirmations 

Writing down your affirmations helps with being present, and appreciating the little things. 


Start your mornings or end your nights writing some affirmations, and it will help achieve a mind full of gratitude and clarity.  


Once you notice how much of a blessing the little things are, you’ll start noticing that some of the ‘big’ problems that you have, are not so big after all! 


There is so much to be grateful for...  Focus on the positive, and have a positive mindset. 

 

8. Be Okay with Making Mistakes 

Don’t worry, love... Everyone makes mistakes, and it is totally okay. 


Don’t let it get you worked up! We are beings who are made to learn, grow, and evolve. Mistakes are learning obstacles to help us become better. 


Don’t let it shake you up, girl. Enjoy the process of learning, enjoy the process of self-love, and enjoy the process of success. How are we supposed to learn without making mistakes?
