Anti-racism Resources

“Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.”

Here at Vitae, we stand as allies in this fight against racism. So we are doing our part by donating $10,000 to Black Lives Matter. And we encourage all of you to also, do your part. Because enough is enough – this global, continued presence of systematic racism needs to end. Yet we cannot end this without action.

And that action starts right now.

A statement from one of our longtime ambassador from Jamaica also has a few words on the matter, @kimzalez876: " What we are seeing today is the tiredness of the people. Tired to see injustice, tired to lose love ones and tired to behave a certain way just to be treated right. George Floyd and the many others we lost recently due to police brutality was the tip of the ice berg! Beneath all of that is the suffering not just black people have endure but everyone! All colours and cultures alike being threaten by corrupt system we are living in. It needs to be fixed and it needs to be heard! I urge everyone to go to their fellow policeman and ask them to kneel with you, let’s do this peacefully. No more lives needs to be lost to this! Rise above the violence and live together equally!#LetsKneelTogether #BlackLivesMatter #AllLivesMatter."

We need to unite as a global community, with compassion in our hearts, and voices that cannot be silenced.

Here at Vitae, we want to fully utilize this platform in order to provide recourses to all of you looking for a way to demonstrate your support and fully get involved.

So below are a list of resources and information that will help you to show your support and make a positive impact. By no means is this a fully comprehensive list, but we do hope it offers you some guidance in how you can act:

This foundation is a global organization who's mission entails eradicating white supremacy and building local power to intervene in violence inflicted upon Black communities by the state and vigilantes. They are working towards a world where Black lives are no longer systematically targeted for demise.

This memorial fund aims to raise awareness for the murder of George Floyd, and to help cover funeral and legal expenses. Portions of these funds will also go towards the Estate of George Floyd, for the benefit and care of his children and their educational fund. This fund was organized by Philonise Floyd, George’s brother.

This petition aims to raise awareness of police violence and the murders of unarmed African Americans. In an attempt to reach the attention of Mayor Jacob Frey and DA Mike Freeman, this petition is endeavouring to have the officers involved in the murder of George to be charged accordingly.

This organization is dedicated to ending police violence in America, by limiting police interventions through improving community interactions, and ensuring accountability.

Founded by NFL quarterback and activist, Colin Kaepernick, this campaign seeks to advance the liberation and well-being of Black and Brown communities through education, self-empowerment, mass mobilization and the creation of new systems that elevate the next generation of change leaders.

Committed to the long-term vision in which all Black lives not only matter, but are able to thrive. Through the development of powerful strategic campaigns, they continue to expand the power of Black people across the Twin Cities metro area and Minnesota.

A non-profit organization, with the central mission being: to promote the accountability of law enforcement officers and their employers for violations of the Constitution and the laws of the United States.

These are just a few of the places you can support right now, although this list is endless. Look into your local communities, do your research and endeavour to find the best ways you can help end this racism globally.

So please - remember to listen and continue to educate yourself. Acknowledge your white privilege, and continuously strive to do better.

Our time to fight is now.

Not only for George Floyd, but Eric Garner, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, Tony McDade, Michael Brown, John Crawford III, and so, so many more.

We stand as allies.

It’s time for action.
