10 Ways To Stay Motivated Working Out This Winter

Winter is coming... and that means, as the colder weather rolls through, we'd all much prefer to remain cuddled up in bed instead of outside working out! But it's important that we still move our body and make the most out of every day, so we decided to compile a list of some of our favorite tips for working out in the cooler weather.

Because we're all in this together Vitae Babes...

  1. WARM UP INSIDE

If you usually like to go for a brisk run or jog every morning but the weather is putting you off, try to warm up those muscles inside. Get some active stretches in and allow the blood to flow to your muscles and joints. Try some jumping jacks, leg swings, anything really - just get that body of yours moving.

  1. SET SOME GOALS

What's one thing you'd really love to achieve over the winter period? This could be as simple as going up a weight level at the gym, or running a total of 50kms a month. Even just to go for a walk every single day... Whatever that goal is, write it down and stick to it. Creating realistic goals for ourselves helps to keep us motivated, even in those cooler months.

  1. TEAM UP WITH SOME FRIENDS

Grab a buddy to help out! Working out is always a thousand times more fun when you're doing it with a bestie. Have a laugh, do some bonding, but also motivate one another consistently to keep doing better. You also can't bail this way hehe...

  1. TREAT YO SELF TO SOME NEW GEAR

This one's a total winner - trust us!! Do some retail therapy and buy yourself some new workout clothes that will keep you warm and snug. Surely we're not the only ones who always feel more motivated to work out with new gear?! Stay warm and fashionable (and hey! You're totally at the right place to find some cute fits ;))

  1. POST ON SOCIAL MEDIA

You know those goals we mentioned before? Post them to social media. Tell the world your aim because then guess what - you totally have to stick to it. Boost your motivation by posting progress pics or even the new running routes you've been taking. Inspire others at the same time too!

  1. KNOW WHAT TIME OF DAY WORKS BEST FOR YOU

Some of us can just wake up and workout straight away. Others like to wait till the afternoon/evening. But regardless, find a time in the day where you feel the most motivated and just get it done. We're all completely unique in how we work out best, so don't equate your schedule to anybody else's. Just do you boo.

  1. BE KIND TO YOURSELF

Okay so this is definitely the most important point yet!! Be. Kind. To. Yourself. Some days you just won't be feeling it - and that's okay!! You need to allow your body (and mind) to rest, so don't overdo it. Don't push yourself too hard that you end up quitting. Take that break. Eat that darn chocolate and chill out. You deserve it babe!

  1. TURN ERRANDS INTO A WORKOUT

Finding it hard to squeeze in a workout when you're super busy? Try turning your errands into a workout instead! Need to pick up a parcel from the Post Office - why don't you jog there? Need to do some shopping? Take your runners and try power walking around the shopping centre, collecting what you need.

  1. TRY SOMETHING NEW

If you're getting sick and tired of the same routine, change it up. Whilst you may like to remain in your comfort zone, sometimes it's important to switch up your workout a little in order to maximise it. Been going for too many runs and getting sick of it? Why not try some new cardio routines to do at home? There are some fabulous ones out there on YouTube!

  1. BOOK A CLASS/JOIN A CLUB

Last but not least - book a class! Join in with a community of other athletes looking to stay motivated and really push one another. This could be done through a remote class or in person, regardless it's a great way to hold yourself accountable, as well as meeting new, like-minded individuals!

And so there we have it - just some of our hot (or I guess you could say cold hehe) tips for surviving winter workouts this year. Do you have any that we haven't mentioned yet? Let us know! It's super important that we all stick together and help motivate each other during this challenging year... so what are you waiting for?! Go out there and kick some winter butt!
